My Baby Shower: A Victorian Style Tea Party

Hello all!

Since the baby ‘Ved’ arrival, I have been really busy taking care of the little one. ‘Ved’ is now 1 month old and he is healthy and a happy baby.

This was not one of those ‘overwhelming and emotional pregnancies’ that I have read/heard about. Touchwood! I have been hoping to complete this blog post since long and finally here it is..Yay!

Baby Shower:

Since this was a Victorian-era inspired baby shower, naturally a tea party with female relatives and friends was a part of celebration. The event overall was designed and curated in a way that it should include anything and everything related to Victorian style.

Made sure to get those important photos, haha

To have something to do for the guests, I opted for cute baby games. I knew from the start that I was not into the idea of diaper cake or having all my guests cut ribbon to “guess my belly size”…hence here’s the list of baby games that i planned. Details of games are available online as well.

  1. Don’t say baby, Mum’s the word
  2. Baby’s first portrait
Let friends know that they’ll be drawing a picture of the baby, and the best sketch will win. The catch is that everyone has to draw with the card on their head! It’s a hilarious sight-and the finished drawings are guaranteed to have everyone in stitches.
  3. Gender Voting
Vote for girl or boy, accordingly write 5 names for that gender
Catch: Among those 5 names at least 1 should match with the list of names that I have
  4. Word Scramble
  5. Bingo
  6. Wishes for Baby

What I wore:

For my baby shower, I wore ‘zara striped dress’ and paired it with a ‘boat neck off-the-shoulder top’. Though it is not a maternity dress but because of the high quality fabric (of the dress) and off-the-shoulder with gathered hem top, it became a perfect outfit for the bump pictures. And of course, I can still wear this outfit post delivery 🙂 I also got custom flower crown made.

My little seen husband made an appearance at the end of the shower. Special thanks to my friends who made it to the shower!
